Necropsy

Effective January 1, 2009 

Note: Fees listed below include all charges (basic fee for the procedure, plus a $10 accession fee, plus a $10 hazardous waste disposal fee). All fees are in US $.


 

General Information

Up to two mammals, ten birds (poultry) or four fish from a single group and with a single clinical syndrome are considered one case when submitted in the same consignment. The fee includes necropsy, histopathology, bacteriology, electron microscopy (feces), molecular diagnostics, nutrition, toxicology and virology. If additional tests are necessary, as judged by the pathologist, they are also included in the fee (except for clinical chemistry, serology and hematology tests).

Necropsies are performed Monday-Friday, except certain holidays when VDL is closed. Click here for our holiday schedule. Turnaround time is one week (two weeks for companion animals).
