From Dean Ames:

It is with great pleasure that I send this message to inform you that Dr. Jerry Torrison has accepted our offer for the VDL Director position. Dr. Torrison demonstrated his vision for a VDL mission based on practical engagement and problem solving with the public. His ideas and past experiences with building collaborations are highly valued. As a DVM and graduate school alum and former faculty member, he has a unique understanding and a long-term relationship with the college and university that will be a bridge to the future. In addition, his work with other universities and other veterinary colleges in the US and internationally demonstrate his ability to partner across institutions. He has also worked with several other veterinary diagnostic laboratories in the Midwest, Europe and China. Jerry has also gained invaluable experience working extensively in the private sector. His career experiences also demonstrate his leadership and ability to identify key opportunities locally and globally as he has worked in over 20 countries and consulted with many food animal production corporations. His working relationships with state and national producer organizations, industry partners and government agencies will also be a great benefit.

Jerry will be starting with us in late March. Many of you have devoted a significant amount of time to this recruitment process, those efforts were noticed and very much appreciated. We are delighted that Jerry will be here within the next couple weeks. Please join me in welcoming him back to the College, we are very fortunate to have this opportunity and look forward to his arrival.
