VDL switches to Zoetis ELISA for detection of PED antibodies
Zoetis, USA has launched a USDA-approved ELISA kit for detection of antibodies to porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV). Starting February 5, 2018, the UMN VDL began using this kit for PEDV ELISA testing. This kit replaces the Biovet ELISA kit that was previously used.
Testing was conducted to compare the Zoetis kit with the Biovet kit. One hundred and forty-seven samples from 8 cases were tested. There was 100% agreement between the two kits when testing the negative samples (47 samples). Of the 100 samples from positive cases, 52 were positive by the Biovet kit and 49 by the Zoetis kit (94.2% agreement).
