Description

This test is the default official screening test for brucellosis. Blood or serum samples submitted from animals in Minnesota for brucellosis testing for regulatory purposes must include the animal's official identification on the submission form for each sample submitted. This includes samples from cattle, bison, cervids, and goats. Regulatory reasons for testing include but are not limited to herd certification, interstate or international movement. Submissions that do not include the animal's official identification will be reported to the Board and are not considered official tests for regulatory purposes. Results for camelids are reported with a disclaimer. There is a link to the Official Brucellosis Test Record and a supplemental form PDFs

Test update

The official screening test in swine and cattle (including Cervids and Camelids) for brucellosis conducted at the VDL is the Buffered Acidified Plate Antigen (BAPA) test. The Card test is used specifically to fulfill testing requirements for exports and/or show pigs testing.
