Description

This test is used to screen samples for the presence of Mycoplasma species, a contagious and incurable mastitis pathogen.

If requested, the lab will pool individual samples (specify 5 or 10 per pool) for Mycoplasma screening. A pooling fee of $2.08 will be applied to each pool. When samples are pooled, the original samples will be kept refrigerated until the pooled result is available. Individual samples from a positive pool are automatically tested and charged the individual fee of $5.72 per sample in the pool.

Results reported:
Detected / Not detected / Inconclusive due to bacterial overgrowth. Positive results may be submitted for confirmation as Mycoplasma bovis upon request (Mycoplasma bovis Real-Time PCR available from the Molecular Diagnostics lab section). Call the Lab for Udder Health for more information.
